The Texas Bamboo Festival is the annual fund raiser for the Texas Bamboo Society Chapter of the American Bamboo Society, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization. Proceeds are used to provide research, information, education, assistance to public bamboo gardens, support for bamboo artists, and to bring new varieties to the multi-state region represented by the Texas Bamboo Society.

The 15th Annual Texas Bamboo Festival was held on Saturday and Sunday, August 25 - 26, 2007 at Zilker Botanical Garden, Austin, Texas.

The Second Annual Southeast Texas Bamboo Festival was held at the Buu Mon Buddhist Temple, Port Arthur, TX on Saturday and Sunday Oct. 27-28, 2007.
Here is some history of the Annual Texas Bamboo Festivals...
Traditionally, the Texas Bamboo Festivals have been held at Zilker Botanical Garden, in Austin, Texas. In 2005, there were two Texas Bamboo Festivals: a Texas Bamboo Festival was held at Mercer Arbortum, Humble, Texas in May and an Austin Bamboo Festival was held in August at Zilker Botanical Garden, Austin, Texas. In 2006, there were also two Texas Bamboo Festivals: The Annual Texas Bamboo Festival was held in Austin in August and the First Southeast Texas Bamboo Festival was held at the Buu Mon Buddhist Temple in Port Arthur, Texas in the fall. In 2007 once again there were two Texas Bamboo Festivals: the 15th Annual Texas Bamboo Festival was held on Saturday and Sunday, August 25-26, 2007 at Zilker Botanical Garden, Austin, TX and the 2nd Annual Southeast Texas Bamboo Festival was held on Saturday and Sunday, October 27-28, 2007 at the Buu Mon Buddhist Temple, Port Arthur, TX.
The Bamboo Festival concept was conceived by Herb Hillery, Texas Bamboo Society driving force and co-founder. The festival serves as the annual fund raising event for the Texas Bamboo Society. Proceeds are used to foster interest in bamboo, provide research, information and support for bamboo artists and to bring new varieties to the multi-state region represented by the Texas Bamboo Society. Many thanks to all the members and vendors who work together to help fulfill the mission of the society.
