10am - 1pm - Meet in the Taniguchi Japanese Garden at Zilker Botanical Garden, Austin, Texas for a Bamboo Garden Study and some light bamboo grooming. Bring a saw, hand clippers and loppers and learn about taking care of the different species of bamboo as you become part of the Taniguchi Revitalization Project.

- August 23-24, 2008 - 16th Annual Texas Bamboo Festival will be held at Zilker Botanical Garden, Austin, Texas. Guest speaker, Robin McBride Scott, will conduct a workshop on Weaving a Cane Mat, using native American Bamboo that she has personally harvested, prepared and dyed. She will also do a presentation about her work with basketry and native American bamboo. Please note the workshop will be limited to 10 - 15 participants. registration info.
The festival will include a live plant auction on Saturday afternoon, a dinner by reservation on Saturday evening and two full days of bamboo activities with bamboo plants and crafts for sale and show.
