The Texas Bamboo Society hosted the 14th Annual Texas Bamboo Festival on Saturday and Sunday August 26-27, 2006 at Zilker Botanical Garden, Austin, Texas.
Featured Presentation: "Bamboo Architecture Around the World" - Presentation by Darrel DeBoer, 1 pm - Saturday and Sunday, August 26 & 27, 2006 Darrel DeBoer is a Northern California architect and furnituremaker who was named by Metropolitan Home magazine in 2001 as one of the 100 most influential designers and named by Natural Home and Garden magazine in July of 2005 as one of the top 10 “Green Architects.” In a dozen bamboo-frame structures and several strawbale houses, he has used earthen & lime plasters, earthen floors and salvaged materials in an effort to find alternatives to toxic or scarce materials used more often today. Darrel has written or co-written six books, including The Art of Natural Building, Alternative Construction, Bamboo Building and Culture, and Building Without Borders. His work has been featured in the books, Bamboo Style, Sustainable Homes, The New Strawbale Home, and Designing Your Natural Home.
Music - Saturday afternoon - 2 pm - 6 pm Hiphuggers Rock - Robin and Sam are bamboo enthusiasts, live in a bamboo jungle in Brenham, Texas and enjoy creating things out of bamboo, including their guitar stands and equipment stands for the band.
Saturday - 3 pm - "Ask the Bamboo Experts"A chance to ask those bamboo question that you always wanted to ask...

Saturday Evening - catered dinner - Advance reservations are required for dinner - cost - $15 per person. The dinner time is a time to wind down from the days activities and get to mingle with bamboo folks.
